Meet Calvin Evans
Calvin was born in 1999 to creative parents; an art teacher and an architect. Combined later with his younger sister taking up everything from crochet to spray paint, Calvin grew up in an artistically-rich household that encouraged him to strive for creative pursuits. Starting in middle school and all-throughout high school, he would take any opportunity that presented itself to animate school projects, from book reports to science projects to talent show segments.
After graduating high school, Calvin's interest in animation compelled him to attend the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Though he originally joined with the intent to be a 2D animator, Calvin would eventually graduate with a Bachelor's degree in 3D animation, giving him the knowledge and skills for both mediums. While at the college, Calvin was hired to assist the college's Animation Specialist with all of their tasks, from teaching other students how to use animation software, to helping maintain the school's render farm. This help was greatly appreciated as the Animation Specialist job changed hands, leaving Calvin to help get the new hire up to speed on how MCAD's specific tools and requirements worked. Together, the Specialist and Calvin overhauled the college's render farm. After four years at the college, Calvin had learned a plethora of skills and techniques that would serve him well going into the industry; From general animation practices and standards, to lessons on animation collaboration and working with clients. While using these strengthened talents to tinker on various creative endeavors, Calvin was approached by the company Serendum asking for help to design a mascot. Impressed by his work, the company hired him under contract as the "Creative Engineer," giving him artistic control over animated ads, social media art, and site rebrands for the company's subsidiaries. Now, Calvin is pursuing new employment in the animated entertainment industry. With a passion for storytelling, Calvin is ready for any 2D show, 3D movie, video game, or wild combination that gets thrown his way. But, he's not sitting idly by. Calvin is working on his own projects in the interim. |
